What is recessed fixture LED?

Recessed fixture LED is also known as Downlight LED. It has a flat surface and a convex tail, which is attached to the ceiling hole. Recessed fixture LED is fitted with a LED chip, so the power consumption is small but the brightness is extremely high.

As this image above, we can somewhat know about the structure of Recessed fixeture LED, It is basically made up of eight main parts: light source - LED chip, the radiator, glass, the reflector, LED driver, the light cover, the ear plug, the shield, the bottom. They are disigned to put the theater together to creat a completed LED downlight.

1. Light source - LED chip

Light source is an indispensable component in LED downlight. The light source is directly relate to the other parameters such as: lumen, life time...

The light source is made up of small Led chips, wrapped around the lights, it is covered by external protective depending on the IP structure of Lights

2. Radiator

The temperature fluctuation of the Lights maybe due to the environmental effects or using Light for too long time without being disconnected. This is the reason make the Lights's temperature increasing.

This directly effects the lifetime of the Lights, it also effects to the other parts of Lights, so the Radiator on the Lights is extremely important to make the light better and more durable.

The Radiator is put on the rear of the lights, in close with the LED chip. It is designed in aluminum, copper or plastic heatsink slots, each with different cooling efficiency. Currently, most of manufacturers use aluminum, because they are the most efficient heatsink material.

3. Glass - Reflector - Protective cover

A device to guide or spread light from the LED chip. Usually made of Mica or PMMA with high light transmission.

Some Recessed fixture LED also uses reflector installed behind the LED chip, making the most of emitted light source.

To ensure the best performance of the LED light bulb, the protective cover plays an extremely important role. The protectuve cover must be firmly constructed of specialized aluminum alloys, high-grade plastic, if is an outdoor LED, it must be equipped with more IP66 or higher IP technology, it will be perfect water-proof, dust-proof, the external forces and heat dissipation must also be paid much attention at this stage.

4. Driver LED

Led light only work with low voltage soure DC. Therefore, to use them with 220V AC power, they need a pressure reducing device and convert it from AC to DC. It is called "LED Driver" or "LED Ballast". Due to the nature of our country voltage is unstable and each Led will have a different power, therefore, the LED driver, also known as ballast will help convert the total power into electricity according to the energy consumption of Led, helping the light to be on continuously without blinking.
